TO START: Please click my name below to email a request for an enrollment form and instructions for the Land Rights and Land Value Capture online course. LAND RIGHTS AND LAND VALUE CAPTURE Land Value Capture is one of the primary United Nations Habitat Global Land Tool Network (UN GLTN) pro poor land tools. These tools are to facilitate the attainment of the Millennium Declaration and the Millennium Development Goals through improved land tenure, management and public finance for poverty alleviation. It is crucial that concrete tools related to land and secure tenure be developed and provided community leaders concerned about land issues. Those of us who are working in this field are developing a new online course on land tenure and land value capture policy. We will utilize an existing course and modify it to be more in the context and purpose of the UN GLTN. We want to create an online course that focuses on the MDG to "improve living conditions for 100 million slum dwellers by 2015". We hereby invite you to take the current online course and seek your feedback and suggestions for the development of the new UN GLTN course. This is a living course and throughout you will have opportunities to contribute facts, statistics and experiences from your own country, community, family and your own individual life. You will be invited but not required to make your contributions, with your permission only, available for compilation with others from your city, region and country for others to read and learn from. After you complete the course you will be welcome to join international teams building movements for implementation of this policy. Further skill building in land rights and public finance policy will be available after the completion of the course. It could change your life and enhance the effectiveness of your work for social change and economic justice. There is no charge to take this course, it is free. Upon enrollment you will be given a course instructor and further details. You will receive a certificate upon completion of the course. There will be required reading, recommended reading, and optional activities and projects. If you do enroll in the course, and we hope you will, we need your commitment to complete it which will take approximately eight hours online and sixteen hours of reading and other assignments over an eight week time period beginning immediately upon enrollment. We know you will gain a valuable perspective from this course - one that will further empower your own work for land rights and economic and social justice. For further questions, please do not hesitate to ask. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
